Our project story

Each project has its own story, at the happy end of which is a satisfied customer and functional technology. Some of the projects have particularly dug into our skin and we want to share it with you. Read stories from their realization and get drawn into action.

The year 2023 was characterized by a project for the Lion Brewery in Sri Lanka within our Brewery Management Department, implemented for the German technology company Steinecker. The subject of our joint delivery was the upgrade of visualization to BOTEC F1 and the modernization of control system, significantly enhancing the operator's competitiveness. The commissioning took place in the first quater of 2023. The team did an excellent job, and the customer requested their involvement repeatedly for future project that is going on right these days.

Our story began with a request from the operator of the hydropower plant to modernise the control technology. The most important expectations of the new control system were availability, flexibility and scalability. References to similar installations played a role in increasing reliability and protection against failures. The system should also be open for future expansion. In this case, our choice clearly fell on the PCS 7 platform. Which technical solution did we choose and what are the most important advantages for the customer?

The commissioning of the power plant block in isolated operation was a challenge both technically and in terms of location. He's in Iraq. The story of the construction of a power plant block for a sugar factory about 100 km from Baghdad in Iraq began for us in 2014. For the technology supplier EKOL, this was the first phase of the project. We are still involved in the project today. At that time, we worked together on the commissioning of 2 backpressure turbines, 2 gas boilers and auxiliary technologies. In 2019, a continuation in the form of the expansion of the power plant block followed. We have 2 new, more powerful turbines, 2 new boilers and auxiliary equipment on site. The new technologies are controlled in a redundant system on the Siemens PCS7 platform.

The cooperation on the project for the Moravia Lacto dairy in Jihlava was a turning point for our activities in the dairy industry. And it started off a bit unconventional. Almost a rescue operation when we were invited to complete the pending integration of technology. Thanks to this order and due to our size and stability, we have become the preferred automation supplier for the entire INTERLACTO Group. It includes dairies in Jihlava, Opočno and Olešnice. We have also strengthened our cooperation with the company that supplied the technology and are now jointly implementing projects for dairies and cheese factories in Germany, and other countries.

In the background of a massive rock that is typical of Gibraltar, one of the most significant Oil&Gas projects was executed and took place in the years between 2017 and 2019. At the beginning of our story, there was a decision to build a new type of power plant in this location. The original diesel generators are now partially replaced by natural gas generators. Gas supply for the new power plant was assigned to SHELL company. The main supplier of bottling, storage and gasification of LNG has become CHART FEROX, a.s., our long-term customer in the area of process automation. Together, we have finished dozens of projects. Cooperation on this project has allowed our company to grow in the area of functional safety and we are proud of the result.

“Sometimes, I completely lost myself while working. I got caught up so much that I lost track of time. I enjoyed it a lot, and the result made me happy,” Jakub Beránek, a young software engineer from B:TECH, looks back on the contract in the food industry. In Falkenhain, near Leipzig, “his” robot now helps produce cheese.

One of the activities that are often replaced by automated or robotic line is product labelling, check and manipulation. The advantage of robotic solution is the possibility of function adjustment of the robot in the case of change of technological procedure (labelling, packaging, mass etc.) The assignment of our specialists was this: to find a solution for placing a package of labels into a box with further palletization and thus substitute the demanding work of handlers. The result made us happy.

In 2016 far away in Mexico, the company from Havlíčkův Brod B:TECH breathed new life into a complex of manufacturing, operational and administrative premises of the biggest producer of light tires for cars. It was the largest commission then and the first 100% turnkey project overseas.

“When you see after months of work and concerns that everything works smoothly, that robots work and hand over parts and all operations work fine, it is great. Robot concert,” Marek Prokš smiles as he remembers one of the largest commissions of B:TECH in the automotive industry. The previous projects of B:TECH included for example the “royal” brand Bentley or Scandinavian Volvo enabled access to another commission in the car production industry for the company. This time the task of the designers and control system and robot programmers was to breathe life into the machines which are used in Gratz, Austria for completing luxury electric car Jaguar I-Pace. It was a commission which tested the company thoroughly.
