Robot application was also visible

We successfully completed the iKariéra VUT job fair organised by the international student organisation IAESTE. It took place on April 12 at the Faculty of Economics of Brno University of Technology (VUT). We prepared a demonstration of robot application for the students at the stand, and there were also competitions with nice prizes. The students tried out PLC programming during the competition.

ROBOT APPLICATION

At the fair, we presented a robot application developed by Jana Lázničková, a graduate of our electrical engineering club, as part of her bachelor's thesis. The Mitsubishi Electric RV4 six-axis robot selects parts from the bin, uses the SICK Inspector camera to identify them and then places them in two output trays to create the prescribed image. At the show, a safety control was added to the application to ensure that it met the machine safety regulations for collaboration. The application was tested before the fair by students who completed their school internship with us over the past two weeks.

29 STUDENTS TOOK PART IN THE TABLET COMPETITION

The competition for the tablet was accompanied by the colleagues of FEKT VUT Jana Lázničková and Michal Koláčný. Both are in their 3rd year of studying automation technology and are working on their bachelor's thesis with us. During the competition, the students searched for a bug in the GX WORKS development environment (PLC Mitsubishi FX5U). The prepared software should be used to control the lift model.

A total of 29 students took part, 3 of them won great prizes:

  • Price: TABLET Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 WiFi Gray
  • Price: HANDY Samsung GALAXY A12
  • Price: WIRELESS HEADPHONES Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic

Congratulations to the winners!

FINALLY LIVE AGAIN

We were very pleased that the event was live again. The last time we were at the fair in Brno in person was in 2019, last year the event took place online. We have faced this format, but it has not grown on us. There was an online competition, a live broadcast from the construction site and individual consultation sessions. The prize draw took place and the prizes were distributed throughout the Czech Republic. Last year, the tablet travelled as far as Pilsen. But somehow it wasn't the best thing in the world. We were very much looking forward to meeting in person in Brno this year. The immersive atmosphere, when time suddenly passes in a flash, you forget everything and are simply together with others in the here and now, listening, exchanging and consulting, that can only be partially transferred.

THE INTEREST IN ROBOTICS AND AUTOMATION WAS GREAT

We were very pleased with the interest shown by the electrical and mechanical engineering students. The heads of our implementation departments, Ondřej Vašíček and Karel Tonar, met with them. Employment opportunities were discussed, how both parties have been successful in the last two years and what plans we have for the future. We made some really interesting contacts and look forward to possible cooperation in the future.

MARVIN WAS ALSO THERE

Marvin is our mascot and rides with us wherever he can. The model is inspired by the ALPHA 1 robot from Ubtech, which is our loyal helper in the Elektrotechnik-AG and also helps us to make technical areas popular in workshops for primary school students.
